After 2.5 years, Te Onewa Northcote Wharf is now open again and ferry sailings have resumed! The rebuilt wharf is looking fantastic, with new shelter, seating and bi-lingual signage.
On behalf of the Kaipatiki Local Board, I had the privilege of attending a small pōwhiri with mana whenua this morning, alongside councillors Richard Hills, Chris Darby and representatives of Auckland Transport.
Thankyou to everyone who has advocated over many years for the ferry service to be retained and for the wharf to be enhanced. I know that the Kaipātiki Local Board has been particularly vocal in keeping the service and I thank past and present local board members for that.
Note: Additional piles are due to be added in the coming months, which will allow the ferry to dock from both directions.
