The Freedom Camping Bylaw Hearing Panel have decided to change the recommendation for the Dudding Sportsfield carpark at Little Shoal Bay from Allowed to Prohibited! This is a fantastic win for the community who submitted overwhelmingly to prohibit freedom camping due to a range of concerns including the regular flooding of the site. Other sites are proceeding as proposed.
However after one of the hearing panel members stormed out and with most roads being opened up to freedom camping by accident, I’m calling on councillors to reject the whole thing and start again next term.
