Auckland Transport is proposing to build out the kerb at two bus stops and convert the slip lane at the intersection of Archers Rd and Chivalry Rd into a Give Way with pedestrian crossing.
From AT:
“It is proposed to build-out the kerb at the two existing bus stops at 199 Chivalry Road and 172 Archers Road to make it easier for buses to align to the kerb when using the bus stop and to re-join traffic after using them.
It is also proposed to improve the left turn lane on Chivalry Road turning into Archers Road by cutting-back the kerb to help buses track left into Archers Road. In order to improve pedestrian safety, it is proposed to install a speed table with a zebra crossing between the footpath and the traffic island. Building out the bus stop outside 172 Archers Road makes it unsafe to have a slip lane into Archers Road and so it is proposed to make this a give way control.
The loss of the slip lane at the intersection is not expected to have a significant effect on the capacity of the intersection.”
Feedback closes Monday 20 May 2019.
