We’re proposing big changes over the next 30 years for the building and carpark areas at both Mahara Ave and Recreation Drive, as well as relocating the memorial shrine, building a splashpad, new walking and cycling connections, creating a Māra hūpara (Māori play) area, and much more.
Please have a look through the masterplan and let us know if we’re on the right track, or have missed anything.
As soon as the masterplan is completed and adopted, we’ll be able to get underway with the business case for a new multisport facility to replace the grandstand (the business case is a requirement from Councillors before we can receive funding for the new building). Consultation open until 14 April.

Drop-in Sessions:

  • 11am to 2pm, Sunday 24 March: Where the grandstand once stood
  • 10am to 12pm, Saturday 6 April: Birkenhead Library
