Pictured is one of the sites that Councillors are proposing to allow freedom camping.
This is the frequently-flooded northern carpark at Little Shoal Bay Reserve (between the bowling club and Dudding Park Sportsfield). The other local sites are the Mahara Ave carpark at Birkenhead War Memorial Park and the Northcote Rd carpark at AF Thomas Reserve (next to Poenamo Hotel).
Public consultation on the “Freedom Camping in Vehicles Bylaw” is open until 18 February.
There are two information sessions coming up:
- 7:30pm-9pm Thursday 7 February: The Birkenhead Residents Assn has organised a public meeting at Northcote Birkenhead Yacht Club, Birkenhead Wharf.
- 6pm-8pm Wednesday 13 February 2019: Council is holding a drop-in information session with expert staff at Northcote Memorial Hall, 2 Rodney Road, Northcote Point.
