An interesting article on whether Auckland parks should be chemical-free. Inspired by local Bayview mother Michelle Hayden who was disturbed to find Spinella Reserve being sprayed with RoundUp.
North Shore City used chemical-free methods to control weeds in parks (excluding certain species in bush areas) and road corridors, but under the SuperCity, only playgrounds, picnic areas, and park edging are chemical-free.
I’m looking into whether there are alternative options for the Kaipatiki Local Board area, and what the costs of those would be.
There is a link at the bottom of the article to see where the chemical-free parks are in Auckland.
