What a shame that the Hibiscus & Bays Local Board has once more voted against opening up workshops to the public 
Good on ya Caitlin Watson, David Cooper, Mike Williamson and Vicki Watson for pushing for a more transparent and democratically accountable Local Board!
I led the introduction of public workshops in Kaipātiki earlier this year and it has worked well. Debating the issues and questioning council officers should definitely be done in the open, rather than behind closed doors.
Devonport-Takapuna have also had open workshops for years. What are the others Local Boards afraid of? Time for the other northern boards to follow suit – come on Upper Harbour and Rodney!!
