➡️ Formal Have Your Say session (registration required here: tinyurl.com/akdogrules-sessions ): 4pm-5pm Weds 5 February @ Kaipātiki Local Board boardroom.
The Kaipātiki Local Board is proposing the following local changes:
* Kauri Glen Reserve: The new tracks between Kauri Glen Rd, Tui Glen Rd and Raymond Tce including the tree-top bridge to be on-leash (currently off-leash). The rest of Kauri Glen Reserve to remain off-leash.
* Kauri Point Domain: The section between the end of Balmain Rd to where the intersection with the track that goes to Soldiers Bay to be on-leash (currently off-leash). The rest of Kauri Pt Domain to remain off-leash.
* Te Ara Awataha Greenway and Kukari Park: These new parks have inherited the default on-leash rule but were never consulted on, so we’d like confirmation that the public is happy with on-leash.
* Leigh Scenic Reserve: Change from off-leash to on-leash to protect Kauri.
* Soldiers Bay Reserve and Soldiers Bay: From Kauri Point Domain to Island Bay Road. Change from off-leash to on-leash to protect wildlife and the environment.
* The foreshore between Sulphur Beach Reserve and Gold Hole Reserve to be off-leash (currently Time & Season rule applies)
* 54 Tonar Street (unnamed pocket park): Change from on-leash to off-leash.
* Kauri Park, Muriel Fisher Reserve and Soren G Christensen Reserve: These parks are all closed due to kauri dieback disease and are proposed to change from off-leash to prohibited.
The following Auckland-wide changes are proposed:
* Various changes to regional park accesss rules.
* Restrictions on walking multiple dogs per person: There are several options put forward with a maximum of between 4 and 8 dogs to be walked at one time per person, and an option for a licence to walk more than the maximum number.
* A number of formatting, wording and structural changes to the bylaw and policy.
