The Kaipātiki Local Board has today approved construction of a tree-top high boardwalk and glulam bridge across the gully at Kauri Glen Reserve!
The new scenic connection will re-open access from Kauri Glen Road to both Tui Glen Road and Raymond Terrace, with the Tui Glen Rd route being step-free! The bridge itself will be 60m long and 18m high.
The new tracks and boardwalk will be built to a standard to help prevent the spread of kauri dieback disease, which is especially important in this park. The project includes the installation of shoe-cleaning stations at each entrance.
The start date is still to be confirmed, but is expected to begin either later this year or early next year and take up to 10 months to complete.

Meanwhile, the remaining closed tracks at Kauri Glen Reserve/Cecil Eady Reserve are expected to begin work in 2022/23.

Funded from both the Kaipātiki Local Board’s renewal budget and the Natural Environment Targeted Rate.
