In my Chairperson’s Report to the Kaipatiki Local Board next week, I will be putting forward an option to fund full-coverage shade sails over the Shepherds Park playground.
I have received numerous requests for shade at this playground, and know from experience how hot it can get. According to the Kaipātiki Strategic Play and Sunsmart Provision Audit 2018, it has “Some partial shade to main equipment provided in autumn/winter. Otherwise equipment is fully exposed to the sun.”
If the Local Board supports this, we will be able have them installed over the next few months, which will ensure that they are in place well before they are needed next Summer. 🙂
