Danielle Grant and I represented the Kaipatiki Local Board at Council’s Finance and Performance Committee yesterday. We went in to bat for funding to replace the grandstand at Birkenhead War Memorial Park and to prevent kauri dieback in our area.
Both topics were well received and there was support for both demolishing the derelict grandstand as soon as possible, and for funding preventative measures for kauri dieback.
The form that the replacement for the grandstand will take will depend on the outcome of the current masterplan project that many of the park groups are involved with.
